Letterboxs

These are showpieces. The welded rectangular-shaped plinths feature plasma-cut hand-drawn waratahs, stainless steel block numbers, and folded mail slots.

The plinth is 400mm wide x 300mm deep and 1200mm high. It is constructed from 2.5mm thick HW350. This is an Australian steel equivalent to Corten. It is designed to rust, and the lovely warm patina protects against further corrosion.

The Waratahs and addresses were hand-drawn and then cut out by hand using a plasma torch.

As an experiment, I lined the letterbox with opaque perspex & installed a solar-powered garden light. The cutouts and address look great when illuminated at night!
