Sculptures 2023

These are works made in 2023

Waratah Fence Panels

I have beautiful waratahs in my garden that put on a fabulous display every year. They inspired the design of my fence panels. I created a design for one set of panels that flowed with waratahs. I aimed for a more lacework-like design for the more extended panel, so I went overboard with a massive number of cut-outs. Naturally, the designs were hand-drawn and then cut by hand with plasma.

Bird Feeder

I was commissioned to make a bird feeder for a client. The brief specified that it needed a hanger for seed, some perches and not look like a “Hills Hoist” closeline! After a few sketches, we agreed on a series of branches with some leaves.

Gumnut Water Feature

TThe client's brief was to create a water feature inspired by nature. After a few iterations, we settled on a design featuring gum nuts and flowers. The stems would pipe the water and spray onto the leaves. The whole structure sits in a pond with a pump to circulate the water.

Gum Leaf Transition

Although I have created conceptually similar gum leaf sculptures in the past, each one is unique because all the designs are hand-drawn and hand-cut with plasma. In this version, I increased the level of detail with far more cutout pieces than ever before. I love the result and believe that the extra work is worth it.
